Wipers, "Out Takes", on vinyl lp. Released by Jackpot Records(JPR 82804). 2010.

The most emotionally naked band of the punk era, The Wipers balanced their raw intensity with sweeping melodies, creating charged, instantly memorable songs engulfed in despair. Their first three LPs: “Is This Real?”; “Youth of America”; and “Over the Edge” are among the most influential American punk records ever, inspiring Kurt Cobain to declare The Wipers the inventors of grunge.
Available on vinyl for the first time, this collection of unheard songs, demo recordings, and alternate mixes offers a new perspective on the first four years of the band: 1979-1983. From sparsely arranged 4-track demos to a careening live version of an unreleased song, “Out Takes” provides a second look at this creative, engaging band, from their humble, stripped-down origins to their loudest tidal wave of sounds. An incredible new window into the career of one of the greatest American punk bands.

Since Jackpot Records began our Wipers vinyl reissues in 2006, we’ve been inundated with requests for more Wipers releases.  Out Takes contains thirteen hand picked selections from the original tapes by Greg Sage.  We are proud to present Out Takes, pressed on audiophile grade vinyl and packaged in a deluxe, tip-on sleeve.
