Beautiful copy of The original 1958 pressing of
Miles Davis and the Modern Jazz Giants -- Prestige 7150

Man,  Milt Jackson is the star of many of these cuts. His vibes work is...well, him!  An Original pressing from 1958 of these sessions from '54 and '56. Heavy "deep groove" vinyl with laminated cover. Stamped RVG and hand written
matrix #s of prlp 7150 a/b with the 204 Bergenfield NJ address on back cover.

On a personal note, I've fully playgraded many older Miles Prestige and Columbia records recently for sale here now like this one and found myself wondering why I haven't spent more time listening to more of pre'60s Miles (while I've spent plenty of time on everything after that especially '70-'75). Re-discovering these recordings by listening to them on these original pressings I collected over the years is just..bright, brilliantly in your face and joyous to hear in this format. I've only listed the ones I've found in Strong VG+ or NM- or NM.
I'll keep the lesser ones and enjoy continuing to discover them further

CONDITION of VINYL:  I playgraded this a few times as I struggled between NM- and VG+. . as It looks VG+ and plays NM-

Conservatively it's A strong VG+, Just under NM- also considered EX or VG++.

Clean and otherwise markless EXCEPT for one very fine needle mark (1 to 1.5 inch) on each side that are the only marks that "sound" for a few minutes each and they do not crackle, nor are they loud. I was surprised they sound as faint as they do,- I playgraded this one so many times to be sure of this. It was one of those things where you had to keep repeatedly playing the section over and over because you think you must have missed it. No, in the end, there's just not that much there to hear from these two little marks. Even if you're looking for perfection, this is not so much to endure considering the rest of the LP is enduringly quiet without a repeating pop or click anywhere. If these needle marks were not there, this would be straight and solid Nearmint. That should give you an idea of what this looks and sounds like.  The labels are clean. If I owned this (which I do!) I would never be looking for a better copy. Overall, this is a hair shy of as good as it gets with this era of  LPs.

There is such an obvious difference in overall background noise between these Prestige pressings and the early CBS MILES that I've been going through. The music comes through brilliantly on each label..but it's no surprise that the CBS  6 and 2 eye Miles LPs are so much more quieter in general.

CONDITION of SLEEVE: NM-

many pictures to see

yes it's rare and hard to believe a sleeve of this vintage in Neatmint or NM-, but take a look

has full and uniform front cover gloss

all three seam show no damage anywhere. no edgewear at all on seams. seams are tight and uniform,

Back cover is totally clean  and still white enough to be NM by itself

the only wear I can see is to the corners, which are square but are not perfect..and that is where the "minus" of the NM- applies. I do really think, even conservatively, this deserves a better grade than VG+ :)

we use these grades BELOW for vinyl and have been grading vinyl for 25+ years. note there is no"excellent" between VG+ and NM-  and there is no VG++...this record would fall under EX or VG++ by someone else's grades
