This the second of our Ultravox re-issues, 1982's Quartet. Pressed on 180g vinyl and remastered for vinyl using the 2009 remasters. The album comes in Limited Edition WHITE vinyl and initial copies also include a bonus 7inch WHITE vinyl single featuring 'Serenade' (7inch edit) and 'The Voice' (Live) (FANCLUB Flexidisc Version). After the massive success of Vienna and Rage In Eden which were both were co productions by the band and Conny Plank, pressure from Chrysalis brought about a change of producer. In an obvious move for even greater mainstream success Beatles producer George Martin was brought in to produce the album. The album itself, is heralded by many fans as the bands best work. Their sound had matured and the songs have a striking immediacy and an accomplishment much down to George Martins production as to the maturing band themselves. Having outgrown the New Romantic tag, were they ever though was debatable; fashion was never a issue with the band unlike Spandau and Duran Duran. This progression and maturity lead to a much fuller sound and more complex and layered orchestrations. The band had truly moved on from the simplicity of Vienna. The album produced 4 singles 'Reap The Wild Wind', 'Hymn' an epic track with Midge Ure's soaring vocals, 'Visions In Blue' and with the growing trend for the 'Extended Mix' the albums last single 'We Came To Dance', featured a 7 minute extended mix on the 12inch single aimed squarely at the clubs. In late 1982 the band toured the album with their elaborate 'Monument Tour' which was recorded and an accompanying CD and DVD released in early 1983.
