QUEEN

FIRST ALBUM

THIS IS THE VERY EARLY PRESSING OF THE FIRST ALBUM BY QUEEN

A LOT OF LISTINGS CLAIM TO BE FIRST PRESSINGS BUT ARE NOT, PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THE MATRIX DECODER AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LISTING TO HELP YOU.

THE VERY FIRST PRESSING OF QUEEN'S FIRST ALBUM HAD THE MATRIX NUMBERS

YAX 4623 3U ON SIDE A

YAX 4624 2U ON SIDE B

THIS COPY ALSO HAS STAMPERS L1 SIDE 1 AND M1 SIDE 2

I HAVE NEVER FOUND THE REASON FOR DIFFERENT STAMPERS ON EACH SIDE, MAYBE IT WAS A MIS-PRESS OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN STAMPED AFTER THE H STAMPERS AT THE END

AFTER NEARLY A LIFETIME OF COLLECTING QUEEN'S FIRST ALBUM I HAVE DECIDED TO SELL THREE OF THE EARLIEST PRESSINGS, MAKE NO MISTAKE THESE ARE EXTREMELY RARE AND HARD TO FIND.

PLEASE TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THAT THIS IS 42 YEARS OLD AND IS NOT MINT

SLEEVE IS IN EXTREMELY GOOD SHAPE FOR AGE AND I WOULD GRADE IT AS VG

VINYL IS IN SUPERB CONDITION AND I WOULD GRADE IT AS VG++ (minimum)

The stamper code: stamped at 3 o’clock, this is a series of letters, which, when decoded, shows the stamper tool number actually used to stamp the record you are holding, as well as the rest of the same batch.

Stampers numbers are coded as follow:

GRAM0PHLTD1234567890

Hence, once decoded, a first press would technically have a ‘mother’ code 1 at 9 o’ clock and a stamper code G at 3 o’clock and that’s it. Anything else is technically not really a first press. Stamper code R is a second press, A is a third press, M a fourth press and so on.

I HAVE USED THIS MATRIX DECODER WITH KIND PERMISSION FROM QUEENMUSEUM.COM
