SMASHING PUMPKINS New Sealed 2016 UNRELEASED LIVE HOMECOMING CONCERT 2 VINYL RECORD SET

Smashing Pumpkins' 1995 homecoming concert with guest appearance from Cheap Trick pressed on a limited edition 2 VINYL RECORD SET! Billy Corgan had returned to Chicago, from St. Petersburg, Florida, after the dissolution of his New Wave/Goth rock band The Marked - originally known as Coat Of Eyes and formed in 1983. He hooked up with guitarist James Aha and the duo began writing songs, much in the vein of English bands The Cure and New Order. The pair's faithful drum machine was eventually jettisoned, and a human rhythm section comprising bassist D'Arcy Wretzky and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin completed The Smashing Pumpkins line-up. The quartet's first live gig was at Chicago's Metro Club on 5th October 1988. The Pumpkins' debut album, 'Gish', was released by US indie label Caroline (Hut in the UK) in 1991. Overseen by Nirvana's classic 'Nevermind' producer Butch Vig, the record quickly became a college radio favourite - and went gold in 1994. The band's early success led to Virgin signing them and the July 1993 release of their sophomore album, 'Siamese Dream'. Boasting a very layered production with countless overdubs (consequently the mixing alone took a reputed 35 days!), the music's sound was described by 'Rolling Stone' magazine's reviewer as "closer to progressive rock than to punk or grunge." It's remarkable songs are heavily featured in this evening's set, which includes storming live versions of Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm, Geek U.S.A., and Mayonaise. The follow-up, "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness", released over two years later (the day after this broadcast), was a sprawling affair consisting of - depending on the format purchased - either 28 (CD & cassette) or 30 (triple-vinyl) tracks. In fact, over 57 different songs had been completed during the recording sessions. At encore time - as an extra-special treat for the hometown crowd - the Pumpkins are joined by near-neighbours, Cheap Trick, and the augmented line-up steams through a trio of the Rockford boys' best rockers, culminating in the rather appropriate grand-slam finale, Auf Wiedersehen.

Tonight Tonight, Jellybelly, Zero, Today, Disarm, Fu*k You, Thru The Eyes of Ruby, Geek USA, Porcelina of the Vast Oceans, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Cherub Rock, Mayonaise, X.Y.U., Baby Loves To Rock, If You Want My Love, Auf Wiedersehen

A MUST HAVE VINYL RECORD SET for any fan!
