After over a decade of being impossible to find (and when found they were fetching collector’s prices) this Olivia Tremor Control’s classic double-album full length is finally being re-released. Lest ye think this is a barebones reissue, nothing could be further from the truth. Original art has been rescanned and retouched. The album comes housed in a sturdy deluxe Stoughton tip-in jacket. And for the first time since its original release, Black Foliage has been remastered from the original tapes!

In addition to the vinyl and artwork, the band has sifted through their archives to give fans over three hours of rare, hard-to-find or previously unreleased material in a 320kps download card. Drone. Tape loops. Live tracks. And finally, for the first time, all of the rare import b-sides and compilation tracks that came out in the 90’s are in one place. The Dusk MP3 bonus material features the contents of the bonus CD that was included with initial copies of the record when it came out in ‘96.

1 through 9 “Explanation II: Instrumental Themes and Dream Sequences” (1996) Originally included as a bonus disc with the CD version of Music from the Unrealized Film Script: Dusk at Cubist Castle. All nine cycles include environmental sounds (crickets, rain, dogs, etc.) recorded on a 4-track recorder over two evenings outside our (former) house on 140 Peter Street in Athens, Georgia. 10 and 11 “Black Swan Network (with Capillary Radar)” and “Black Swan Network (with Enveloping Bicycle Folds)” (1996) Originally released as separate b-sides to “The Opera House” single in the U.K. meant to be played simultaneously on two different sound systems for quadraphonic effect. 12 through 14 “Optical Atlas,” “Language of Stationary Travelers” and “Green Typewriters” (1997) Originally released as the b-sides to “Jumping Fences” single in the UK. 15 and 16 “Do You Like Worms? (Do You Dig Worms?)” and “Little Pad” (1998) Originally released on the compilation Smiling Pets in Japan.
