BEATLES UK, Revolver, rare ridged labels, original 1966 mono.

PMC 7009, original, first issue 1966 mono yellow and black Parlophone labels.

A UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. it is thought that these very hard to find ‘ridged’ labels were the result of EMI re employing an old ‘rogue’ pressing machine to help meet the high demand for the record. The ridges themselves are curious, as the ridge on side one is ‘shallow’, but the ridge on side two is more ‘pronounced’. Only a small number of these ‘ridged label’ copies were ever manufactured, making them very hard to find,

2. the records matrix and the mother/ stampers are regular EMI,

3. the record labels feature the first mono issue ‘Sans Serif’ font and side two has the more unusual ‘Dr’ spelling for the track, ‘Dr Robert’, as most of these ‘Sans Serif’ record labels had the ‘Doctor’ spelling.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. This laminate has remained an excellent glossy finish. The two opening edges have remained clean for their age. The spine is in excellent condition and it has remained clean and white and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the 1960s period style ‘tri flip back’, fold over edges design. There are NO tears, pen writing, splits, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original, period EMI black and white advertising inner sleeve. The inner sleeve has remained clean and white. There are NO tears, pen writing, splits, stains, stickers or sticker residue to the inner sleeve.

THE RECORD: is in excellent condition, the record is made from the period 1960s ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl. The record has remained very dark and glossy.

The matrix are: XEX 605 - 2 and XEX 606 - 2,

The mother/stampers are: ‘4 L T ’ and ‘2 P .

THE AUDIO: plays excellent+, it plays with excellent quiet grooves, an excellent playing copy. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: are in excellent condition. The letters ‘K T’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side two. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.

BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
