FAIRPORT CONVENTION - LIEGE & LIEF
PINK ISLAND - PLAYS NEAR MINT
1969 ORIGINAL STEREO 1ST PRESS
EXCELLENT PLUS SLEEVE
TO LISTEN TO THE RECORD, PLEASE PRESS PLAY ON THE PLAYER, AND WAIT FOR IT TO LOAD. IT CAN TAKE UP TO A MINUTE. THE NEW SOFTWARE IS SLOWER THAN THE OLDER ONE. BY THE TIME YOU HAVE READ THROUGH THE DESCRIPTION IT SHOULD START TO PLAY
THE RECORDS
THE LABELS
THE SUPERB PASTEL PINK ISLAND LABELS ARE IN SUPERB CONDITION. NO COLOUR LOSS AND NO MARKS OR STAINS AND A COLOUR THAT FULLY STRETCHES INTO THE UNWORN SPINDLE HOLE.
THE BLACK TYPEFACE IS PRISTINE AND UNRUBBED, AS IS THE BLACK BLOCK LOGO, AND THERE ARE JUST 1-2 TINY SPIDER LINES CLOSE TO THE HOLE SHOWING A LIMITED AMOUNT OF PLAY SINCE 1969
THE VINYL
THE SURFACE IN DAYLIGHT LOOKS FLAWLESS, AND GLEAMS LIKE A POLISHED MIRROR. AND LOOK TOTALLY FLAWLESS. UNDER INTENSE ILLUMINATION THERE ARE JUST A FEW NEAR INVISIBLE WISPY HAIRLINES
PLAYING THE RECORD
I BELIEVE THAT IF YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND YOUR MONEY ON A FANTASTIC COLLECTIBLE VINYL, THAT YOU SHOULD BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. I HAVE THEREFORE INVESTED IN THE SOFTWARE THAT ALLOWS YOU TO DO JUST THAT.
I HAVE RECORDED THE ENTIRE LP FROM START TO FINISH, SO THAT BIDDERS ARE ABLE TO HEAR THE EXACT RECORD IN FULL
THE LP PLAYS THROUGH REALLY WELL. THE REPRODUCTION IS PURE FIRST PRESS. SUPERB STEREO REPRODUCTION AND A CRACKING DISTORTION AND CRACKLE FREE PERFORMANCE.
THOSE THAT KNOW EARLY ISLAND PRESSES WILL APPRECIATE THAT THERE IS USUALLY EMBEDDED VINYL NOISE IN THE PRESS, BUT HERE THIS EXAMPLE HAS AVOIDED THAT COMPLETELY
HO BACKGROUND CRACKLE AND THAT EVEN INCLUDED STATIC WHERE THERE IS UNUSUALLY NONE AT ALL
NO LOUD POPS OR CLICKS
WHAT YOU WILL HEAR ARE A HANDFUL OF TINY LITTLE STATIC TICS THROUGH THE PLAY BUT NO REAL STATIC AND THE REPRODUCTION IS CRYSTAL CLEAR AND CLEAN
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO LISTEN TO THIS SUPERB PRESSING AND BE THE JUDGE AGAINST YOUR PERSONAL STANDARDS
I AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO GRADE THIS VINYL NEAR MINT
THE SLEEVE
UNLAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE FROM THE E.J.DAY AND CO
THIS SLEEVE IS REALLY HARD TO FIND IN ANY SORT OF COLLECTIBLE CONDITION DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS MADE OF A POROUS UNLAMINATED LIGHT GREY FINISH, AND REALLY PRONE TO HEAVY MARKING AND HANDLING, BUT HERE IS ONE THAT IS IN SUPERB NEAR MINT CONDITION, WITH JUST A FEW REALLY MINOR BLEMISHED
THE FRONT SURFACE IS FLAT AND FREE FROM ANY HEAVY CREASES. THERE ARE TWO SMALL PRESSURE LINES AGAINST THE SPINE. NONE ALONG THE TOP EDGE, NONE ALONG THE BOTTOM EDGE, AND NO THUMB LINES NEAR THE OPENING EDGE
THE GREY SURFACE HAS REMAINED VIRTUALLY MARK FREE. THERE ARE A FEW VERY LIGHT BROWN FOXING MOTTLES, AND A SMALL SLIVER OF WHITE JUST ABOVE THE BOTTOM EDGE
THE TOP AND BOTTOM EDGES SHOW JUST MILD SHELF WEAR. STILL VERY GREY ACROSS BOTH SURFACES WITH JUST A FEW TINY WHITE FLECKS VISIBLE, AND A SPECK OF RUB TO THE RIGHT TIP ENDS
THE SPINE IS PERFECTLY FLAT,AND ALL OF THE TYPEFACE IS PRISTINE AND PROPERLY LEGIBLE. THE GREY COLOUR IS HAS LIGHTLY BROWNED IN PLACES AND THE TOP AND BOTTOM TIP ENDS HAVE A SPECK OF RUB
THE OPENING EDGE IS RAZOR SHARP AND AS NEW.
THE REAR SURFACE IS ALSO IN NICE CONDITION. A LITTLE VERY MILD LIGHT BROWNING OF THE EDGES
OPENING THE GATEFOLD REVEALS A PRISTINE PAIR OF INNER PANELS
THE ORIGINAL POLY LINED INNER IS UNSPLIT BUT DOES HAVE AGEING AND FOXING
THE SLEEVE EASILY GRADES EXCELLENT PLUS
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BID IF YOU CHOSE TO GO FOR IT
