John Warren Woods was an American poet and Western Michigan University English professor. After he completed his studies (BS, MA) at Indiana University, he began his academic career in the English department at Western Michigan University in 1955. He retired in 1992 as a full professor. He published dozens of poetry books. The book Deaths of Paragon, Indiana was first published in 1955 by Indiana University Press. Other books of poems by him include Black Marigolds, The Valley of Minor Animals, and Striking the Earth.
