THE ROLLING STONES, Mona label, original UK 1964 Decca mono debut album.

LK 4605, original UK red un boxed mono, grooved Decca labels.

A UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. earliest known printed UK Decca record labels, featuring:

a. side one, track four features the incorrect title of ‘Mona’, but on the rear of the sleeve this track is referred to as, ‘I need you baby’. The error of ‘Mona’ was soon spotted and quickly changed to read, I need you baby’,

b. side one, track three, ‘Honest I do’, features the writers credit of ‘Hurran and Calvert’, but on the rear of the sleeve this track is credited to ‘Reed’,

c. side one, track three, ‘Honest I Do’, features the earliest known publishing credit of, ‘Cromwell Music’,

d. side two, track four, ‘Can I get a witness’, the writers credit has been mis spelt as ‘Bozier’. This error was soon spotted and quickly corrected to read, ‘Dozier’. On the rear of the sleeve this credit is spelt correctly !,

e. original UK 1964 red un boxed, ‘Decca’, ridged labels,

f. ‘Roman’ font text labels,

g. ‘inverted’ matrix,

h. the text, ‘recorded first published 1964’,

2. early mother / stampers on side two, being ‘1 BA’,

3. on the rear of the sleeve, within the sleeves notes, the track, ‘Can I get a witness’ has been mis spelt as, ‘Can’t I get a witness ’,

4. the rear of the sleeve features a ‘twin flip’ back design variant, top and bottom,

5. comes with its original period ‘Decca’ inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition, the front is laminated. The spine is in very good condition and most of the text is readable on the spine. The rear of the sleeve features the original, 1960s period ‘twin flip’ back, ie fold over edges design, top and bottom. There are NO splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There is a small name written in blue pen on the rear, top left.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original UK period, mono ‘Decca’ inner sleeve. A clean and well preserved inner sleeve. There are NO splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve.

THE RECORD: each side is in very good++ condition. The record has remained dark and glossy.

The matrix are: XARL 6271 2A and XARL 6272 4A,

The mother / stampers are: side one, ‘3D BM’, the letters ‘KT’ are also engraved onto the ‘run off’ groove. Side two, 1 BA, very early, the letters ‘KT’ are also engraved onto the ‘run off’ groove.

THE AUDIO: each side plays very good++, each side plays with some light ‘ticks’ and some light ‘crackle’ heard here and there. The record plays with a full, loud period mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: each label is in near excellent condition. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

BEFORE POSTING, THE RECORD IS REMOVED FROM THE RECORDS ORIGINAL INNER AND OUTER SLEEVES, THE RECORD IS THEN PUT INTO A SECOND PAPER INNER SLEEVE TO MINIMISE ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR WHILE IN TRANSIT. THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
