RAGTIME was taking over the world in 1912, and here is evidence: H. COVE and T. JACKSON, two stalwarts of the British Music Hall, give out with a couple of song hits which had recently swept across America, and were now invading Britain: "RAGTIME COWBOY JOE" and Irving Berlin's "RAGTIME SOLDIER MAN."
To get their point across, so there should be no mistake, the Winner people prudently festooned the word "RAGTIME" four times on the label!
Notice the lively, upper-crust crowd in the background of the beautiful label illustration. They are quite agitated, adrenaline-driven, waving their arms in heedless abandon, applauding, forming a Conga Line, giving each other high-fives. This is in stark contrast to the icy, stiff-upper-lip British reserve lampooned in "My Fair Lady," in the "Ascot Races" number, which depicts a very similar crowd and situation in this very year, 1912. THAT'S what history teaches, if you trouble yourself to examine the contemporary documents!
This original - and colorful! - 1912 "The Winner" 2255 is in lovely E condition.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
