This is that most unusual thing, what to buy for the Man-Who-Has-Everything: a NORDSKOG TEST PRESSING!

André Nordskog founded the first record company on the West Coast in 1921, and made a modest living recording some of the local talent. He made history when he waxed sides by Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band from New Orleans, the first such band ever to record.  Some other early jazz and dance music also got recorded by André. He also captured the sounds of California composer Charles Wakefield Cadman, who wrote "At Dawning" and thus has at least a sliver of fame.

This double-sided test pressing, unfortunately, is NONE of the above; both sides are rather dreary vocals-with-piano by a MRS. LIEURANCE, who isn't as bad as Florence Foster Jenkins, which is the best I can say for her.  But it's STILL a fascinating record: Pressed in the 1950s on modern vinylite, from original old Nordskog stampers, we get to hear the clearest possible example of Nordskog sound - produced on essentially home-made acoustical equipment, in 1921.

There's some buckling at the edge of one side, from one of the metal parts being a little warped. Flaws notwithstanding, this record is in "Mint Minus" condition!

*****

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
