Two UK issues of Dark Entries, both from the beginning of 1980.

The original issue of Dark Entries came out on the newly-formed Axis Records label, but the company had to change its name when they found out that there was already a company called Axis Records. 

While they set up the new name and label (4AD), an interim short-run (believed to be only a few hundred copies) was pressed on the parent record label, Beggars Banquet. These red label Beggars Banquet pressings are the rarest versions. Soon afterwards copies appeared with the new blue 4AD labels, still using the Beggars Banquet number BEG 37. These are the two versions for sale here.

The cover has lots of wear and creases and general signs of age and use, but there are no seam splits. The 4AD disc looks around VG+. The Beggars Banquet disc has very few signs of use and would grade as an EASY Excellent apart from the fact that it is not 100% flat. However, I've played both sides and it plays with no problems at all.

The BEG 37 4AD pressings were re-pressed several times before the labels were amended to show the correct 4AD number, AD3. Numerous repressings of that version appeared with the blue 4AD labels throughout the early 1980s until 4AD changed its labels to the black and white ‘wrestlers’ design.
