Though he's been dead for nearly 50 years, Joe Meek remains one of the most fascinating and influential figures in British pop music. A brilliant and prolific producer and songwriter, Meek is considered one of the most influential engineers of all time, being one of the first to exploit the use of recording studios as instruments, and one of the first producers to assert an individual identity as an artist.

Though only 37 at the time of his death Meek left a large body of work rivalled only by his equally inspired/insane competitor across the pond, Phil Spector.
