For auction is OLIVER NELSON's "Blues And The Abstract Truth," on Impulse! A-5 Promo, MONO, DG, RVG, 1961. With Eric Dolphy, Freddie Hubbard, Bill Evans, George Barrow and Roy Haynes.

SOUND: NM/MINT

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. One, single caveat: there were 2 or 3 quick, slight tics in B2, "Yearnin'." That's it! Other than that, not a hint of noise, hiss, static, tics, etc. The sound is powerful, and virtually flawless! Crystal clean, plays like a brand new record.

VINYL: NM

The vinyl appears clean and newish. There are a couple of very faint sleeve-scuffs on side B. Totally superficial. Side A appears flawless. The run-outs contain the "RVG" etching. The "promo" version "Impulse!" labels are white/black, and very clean. There is a tiny "wrinkle" in the side A label, only observable up close. A tiny bit of spindle-wear.

JACKET: VG

This is the alternate promotional cover. The top and bottom edges are both split from the center to the right-side opening. The spine is solid. The front and back of this version contain the liner notes and illustration from the interior of the GF commercial version. The front is clean with some aging and routine wear, and some writing in black marker. The back cover is in excellent, clean, unmarked condition.

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

Rare, desirable record, plays almost MINT! Vinyl in beautiful shape! Rarely seen "PROMO" sleeve! No reserve, bidding starts at $100.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
