For auction is THELONIOUS MONK: "Thelonious Himself," on Riverside RLP 12-235, MONO, DG, 1957.

SOUND: VG

It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. There is light surface noise (a little crackly) throughout, never enough to overpower the performance (even this nuanced solo piano.) That said, not for a perfectionist, but a nice listen nonetheless.

VINYL: VG

The vinyl has light marks either side, although all appear superficial. There is a large area on side B, which appears to be some sort of a broad scuff (see pics.) This area doesn't affect the playback one way or another, so I guess I'll call it "cosmetic." Deep-grooved, blue "mike-and-reel" labels are very nice, with minor spindle marks.

JACKET: VG+/NM

The jacket is very nice, with solid edges and spine in great condition. The corners are good, with minimal, routine wear. Both the front and back covers are quite clean and unmarked, with minimal, routine shelf-wear. Overall, very nice jacket!

The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.

This VG copy is a great value with a starting bid at $15.

Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.

Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.

If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
