ONE OF the most accomplished and lovely records of all time is "IN A SENTIMENTAL MOOD" by DUKE ELLINGTON AND HIS ORCHESTRA.

Later to become a standard, "Sentimental" was recorded by Duke only this ONCE (before the '50s).  Let us say he rose to the occasion magnificently.  A seamless piece of sensual orchestral beauty, JOHNNY HODGES (alto sax) and COOTIE WILLIAMS (trumpet) and LAWRENCE BROWN (trombone) are prominently featured, but it's the utter TOTALITY of Duke's composing and arranging that will completely amaze you, that make this record an enduring work of art.

The other side, "SHOWBOAT SHUFFLE," is also a major romp, essentially featuring the whole band.  I repeat: you can't go wrong with this record!

This original 1935 Brunswick 7461 is in superb E+ condition. Hardly a mark on it.

*****

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
