Superb audio on this genuine 1st UK pressing which has large Mad Hatter labels, B&C credits, an E.J. Day cover, a card lyric inner sleeve and the following 1st press matrix numbers:

CAS 1074 A-1U

CAS 1074 B-2U

The run-outs are also etched with PORKY RAY and PECKO.

Detailed description
Vinyl: The heavy (154 gram) vinyl has retained its original sheen with a few hairlines (mainly on side one) visible in normal light, and under bright, direct light both sides have numerous very fine sleeve-removal 'brush lines' (presumably from the unforgiving inner sleeve) but these are entirely superficial surface marks with no audible impact.  I have played the entire record and it sounds great with very little to report. A true first pressing of Selling England by the Pound is a really hard album to find with exceptional audio, but this is among the best I've heard. It plays very quietly even in the run-ins/outs, fades, silent grooves and intros, with just a few tiny clicks here and there. Much of this copy plays flawlessly, but there were a few places where I heard a handful of tiny soft clicks, but there was nothing loud or intrusive anywhere and none which lasted longer than about three or four revolutions, with the exception of eight really tiny, soft tics near the end of 'More Fool Me', but these were barely audible and would be easy to miss. For the sake of completeness, I would mention that one of the places where you get four tiny (barely audible) tics is in the a cappella intro to 'Dancing with the Moonlit Knight', but these really are very, very quiet and would probably be inaudible on any other part of the album, and they are only specifically mentioned because they appear so near to the beginning of the album, but they too are exceptionally quiet. There is nothing on this album that will detract from your listening enjoyment. This is a superb audio performance and the whole album was an absolute pleasure to listen to. I would play-grade side one as a SAFE Excellent (Ex) to Excellent Plus (Ex+) and side two as a SAFE Excellent Plus (Ex+) to Near Mint (NM). I think it would be hard to find a true first pressing which sounds much better. A visual grading for the album would be below the play-grade.

Cover: Original 1st press E.J. Day cover has some light signs of age and use, but no splits, tears, writing etc and nothing bad anywhere. These original pale covers are prone to grubbiness and ring-wear, but this is a well-above-average example with no significant issues.

Inner sleeve: This is the very rare, original lyric inner sleeve made of card (not a flat insert). It has no splits or tears, just some normal signs of wear and use. There is a small (2cm) worn area (NOT a split) at the centre of one side seam, minor corner wear, slight shaping around the disc, a few marks and minor signs of use at the opening, but there are no significant issues.

Detracting features not covered above:  None. A genuine first pressing with the rare inner sleeve and outstanding audio.
