A few Years ago, I was fortunate enough to meet a gentleman who wanted to sell me his entire Soul Collection. Mainly Stax and Stax related labels. He told me a great story of how he got them. He used to work part time as a DJ with the pirate radio station Radio London In the mid 60's he heard some of the Stax music for the first time, and on a whim he wrote to Stax in Memphis to ask where he could buy records in the UK and he told them that he loved their music Apparently Stax were so impressed that firstly someone in the UK had heard their music and secondly that a White Person wanted to buy the music (Bear in Mind this was the 60's in Memphis) Anyway as I said they were so impressed that they added him to their mailing list and he received  records from them from the mid 60's right through to the mid 70's The records didn't end up at the Radio Station, they did end up in his personal collection
