BEATLES UK, With the Beatles, mis pressed sleeve & unusual mono record label, UK 1963 LP.

PMC 1206, unusual later issue UK yellow and black Parlophone record label on side two.

A UK issue mono album in original condition, featuring:

1. a mis pressed sleeve as the mono logo on the front of the sleeve has been printed onto the laminate and not underneath the laminate. The mono logo appears printed ‘lower down’ and more ‘over to the left’,

2. the sleeve is also mis pressed as it has been printed ‘too dark’ and has a very ‘grainy’ appearance. Attempts were made at EMI to show a much ‘lighter’ and ‘clearer’ image sleeve,

3. an unusual record label variant on side two as track five, ‘Devil in her heart’ appears on one line of text rather than the usual, two lines of text,

4. unusual ‘mothers’ of ‘13011’ on side one of the record, as they appear as five numbers, usual EMI ‘mothers’ only usually appear as one, two of maybe three numbers !,

5. the rear of the sleeve features the uncorrected spelling of, ‘Gotta’, on the track, ‘You really got a hold on me’, but on the record label this appears as ‘got a’,

6. comes with its original, ‘Use Emitex’ inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent condition, the sleeve is laminated on the front. The condition of the sleeve would have been graded higher but there are five ‘punch’ holes onto the rear panel (only), bottom right, it is unknown if these were done at the EMI factory or later on !. The two opening edges of the sleeve have remained clean and sharp. The spine is in excellent condition and has remained white, clean and straight and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the original period 1960s ‘tri flip back’, ie fold over edges. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original ‘Use Emitex’ inner sleeve. A very clean and ‘crease’ free inner sleeve. There are NO tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. The condition of the inner sleeve would have been graded higher but, again there are five ‘punch’ holes onto the front panel (only), bottom right, it is unknown if these were done at the EMI factory or later on !. There is a split to one of the side edges.

THE RECORD: side one is in, overall excellent++ condition. Side one would have been graded as in near MINT condition but there are two small marks on track three, note the condition of the record has been graded under ‘normal daylight’ conditions. Side two is in excellent+ condition. The record is made of the original period 1960s ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl. The record has remained very dark and glossy.

The matrix are: XEX 447 – 7N and XEX 448 – 7N,

The mother / stampers are: 13011 GAP’ and ‘1 LH’.

THE AUDIO: side one, track three plays with a some short ‘ticks’ so I will grade track three as very good++, the rest of side one plays excellent++, with excellent quiet grooves. Side two, track four plays with some ‘ticks’, so I will grade track four as very good++, the rest of side two plays excellent++, with excellent quiet grooves. The record plays with a full loud, powerful period mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE RECORD LABELS: each of the record labels are in excellent+ condition. The letters ‘KT’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. Each of the record labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL

GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.
