THE RECORDS

THE LABELS

ORANGE AND BLACK DAWN LABELS IN PRISTINE CONDITION. NO MARKS OR STAINS ANYWHERE.

THE COLOUR IS RICH AND VIBRANT. THE BASE ORANGE COLOUR FULLY STRETCHES INTO THE UNWORN SPINDLE HOLE.

THERE ARE NO MORE THAN 5-6 REALLY SMALL SPIDER LINES VERY CLOSE TO THE HOLE

IT JUST HASN'T BEEN PLAYED WHEN YOU CONSIDER THAT IT IS 51 YEARS OLD.

THE VINYL

A STUNNING  HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL IN SUPERB CONDITION. IT GLEAMS LIKE NEW AND IN DAYLIGHT LOOKS ABSOLUTELY AS NEW.

EVEN WHEN PLACED UNDER INTENSE ILLUMINATION THERE ARE JUST 2-3 LIGHT SURFACE HAIRLINES BARELY VISIBLE

PLAYING THE RECORD

I BELIEVE THAT IF YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND YOUR MONEY ON A FANTASTIC COLLECTIBLE VINYL, THAT YOU SHOULD BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. I HAVE THEREFORE INVESTED IN THE SOFTWARE THAT ALLOWS YOU TO DO JUST THAT.

I HAVE RECORDED THE ENTIRE  ALBUM FROM START TO FINISH, AS I NOW DO WITH ALL MY LISTINGS, AS I AM CONVINCED THAT BIDDERS WOULD LOVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE ABLE TO HEAR THE RECORD BEFORE LAYING A BID. THIS IS A SERVICE I AM DELIGHTED TO BE ABLE TO OFFER MY CUSTOMERS

DAWN WAS THE PROGRESSIVE SUBSIDIARY OF PYE RECORDS, AND WAS USED TO PROMOTE ALL OF THOSE WEIRD AND OBSCURE PROGRESSIVE BANDS OF THE VERY EARLY SEVENTIES. DONOVAN ONLY RELEASED 2 ALBUMS ON THIS LABEL IN 1970 AND 1971

THE FIRST THING TO POINT OUT IS THAT THE VINYL PLAYS WITHOUT ANY DISTORTION WHATSOEVER AT ANY POINT

THE VOCAL CLARITY IS JUST SUPERB. CLEAR AND CRISP, AND THE STEREO REPRODUCTION IS JUST PURE FIRST PRESS

THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR WORK IS ALSO REPRODUCED MAGNIFICENTLY.

THE VINYL PLAYS MAGNIFICENTLY THROUGH BOTH SIDES WITHOUT ANY BACKGROUND CRACKLE WHATSOEVER, AND CERTAINLY NO LOUD CLICKS

THERE IS NO VINYL NOISE EITHER

I CAN'T EVEN SAY I HEARD ANY STATIC IN THE LINKING GROOVES

A COUPLE OF THE TINIEST DUST POPS DURING THE WHOLE PLAY

FOR ME THIS SUPERB VINYL GRADES  MINT MINUS WITH EASE

ANYWAY PLEASE TAKE A GOOD LISTEN AND JUDGE FOR YOURSELF

THE SLEEVE

GENUINE 1ST PRESS GARROD AND LOFTHOUSE UNLAMINATED GATEFOLD SLEEVE

VERY HARD SLEEVE TO GET IN A HIGH GRADE COLLECTIBLE CONDITION. THE REASON FOR THIS IS NOT ONLY IS THE SLEEVE UNLAMINATED, BUT THERE ARE MANY DUSTY COLOURS ON THIS DULL SURFACE THAT WEAR VERY EASILY AND I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT SHELF WEAR IS MOST PREVALENT ON THE MAJORITY OF COPIES.

HERE THEN IS A NEAR PERFECT GATEFOLD.

STARTING WITH THE FRONT SURFACE, THE FIRST AND MOST OBVIOUS THING TO POINT OUT IS THAT THERE ARE NO HEAVY CREASES AND CREASE LINES.

NOR ARE THERE ANY PRESSURE LINES  NEAR THE SPINE. NONE ALONG THE TOP EDGE, NONE ON THE BOTTOM EDGE, AND NO THUMB LINES NEAR THE OPENING EDGE

THE FRONT SURFACE IS VERY FLAT AND CLEAN. THERE ARE NO MARKS OR STAINS ANYWHERE. BEST OF ALL ALL OF THE COLOURS HAVE BEEN RETAINED AND THERE IS NO RUBBING AWAY OF THESE PRECIOUS AND DELICATE PASTEL SHADES.

NO RING WEAR OR RECORD SHAPE AND THE CORNERS ARE SHARP AND SQUARE WITH JUST A PIN PRICK OF RUB TO THE BOTTOM RIGHT TIP END

THERE IS A VERY LIGHT TRACE OF HANDLING TO THE EDGES ONLY

THE TOP EDGES ARE UNRIBBED WITH PERFECT COLOURS ACROSS BOTH SURFACES

THE BOTTOM EDGES HAVE A LITTLE RUB AT THE RIGHT CORNERS

THE SPINE ON THIS SLEEVE IS AT BEST USUALLY FOUND WITH SHELF WEAR AND WORN TYPEFACE, BUT HERE IS A MINT UNSQUASHED AND UNWORN EXAMPLE WITH EVERY LETTER OF THE TYPEFACE PERFECTLY LEGIBLE. JUST A LITTLE RUB ON THE TOP END TIP

THE OPENING EDGE ISSTILL RAZOR SHARP

THE REAR SURFACE IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE FRONT. THERE IS A LIGHT IMPRESSION FROM THE RECORD JUST UNDER THE TOP EDGE AND JUST OVER THE BOTTOM EDGE

OPENING THE GATEFOLD REVEALS A PRISTINE INNER SURFACE ON BOTH SIDES.

THE  POLY LINED INNER SLEEVE HAS AGED AND HAS SOME CREASES BUT REMAINS FREE FROM SEAM SPLITS

I HAVE NO HESITATION IN GRADING THIS SLEEVE NEAR MINT

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BID IF YOU CHOSE TO GO FOR IT
