BEATLES UK, With the Beatles, unusual 4/3 record matrix & darker sleeve UK 1963 LP.

PMC 1206, early UK 1963 mono yellow and black Parlophone labels.

Only until recently I thought that these 4/3 matrix records did not exist. It is hard to find a 3/3 matrix or a 4/4 matrix but the 4/3 matrix records are even harder to find.

A UK issue mono album in original condition, featuring:

1. an early 'mis pressed' sleeve, featuring:

a. the 'mono logo' has been printed ‘onto’ the laminate and not 'underneath' the laminate !,

b. an early issue ‘dark and grainy’ front photo sleeve, see the comparison photo. These early 'darker' sleeves were soon changed to show a much ‘lighter’ and ‘clearer’ photo image,

c. another unusual feature of the sleeve is that it features the spelling of, 'got a' printed on the rear of the sleeve. These early 'darker' sleeves always featured the, 'Gotta' spelling for the track title of, 'You really ‘got’ hold on me’. So for such an early sleeve it is very unusual to see an amended ‘dark and grainy’, ‘got a’ spelling sleeve,

2. hard to find 4/3 matrix record,

3. earliest 'mother' of '1' engraved onto side two in the 'run off' groove,

4. comes with its original 'Use 'Emitex' inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition, the sleeve is laminated on the front. The two opening edges have remained clean and sharp. The spine is in excellent+ condition and has remained clean white and straight and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the original period, ‘tri flip back’, ie ‘fold over’ edges. There are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. To the front, lower left corner there is a light impression of some writing, but this is only seen when the sleeve is tilted to the light.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the original EMI period ‘Use Emitex’ inner sleeve. The two opening edges have remained clean and unworn. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve.

THE RECORD: side one is in excellent++ condition. Side two, track one and two are in very good condition, the rest of side two is in excellent condition. The record is made of the original period 1960s ‘thick, heavy’ vinyl. the record has remained very dark and glossy.

The matrix are: XEX 447 – 4N and XEX 448 – 3N,

The mother / stampers are: ‘2 0’ and1 T’, earliest 'mother' of, '1' engraved onto the 'run off' groove.

THE AUDIO: side one plays excellent. Side two, I did hear some light 'ticks' on track one and two, so I will grade the audio here as very good+, the rest of side two plays excellent. The record plays with a full loud, powerful period mono sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE RECORD LABELS: each of the record labels are in very good++ condition. The letters ‘KT’ are embossed around the spindle hole on side one. Each of the record labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
