BEATLES UK, With the Beatles, hard to find 'Willson' stereo label 1963 UK LP.
PCS 3045, early variant UK Black and Yellow Parlophone record labels.
A hard to find 'corrected' spelling of 'Willson' for the 'writers credit' for the track, 'Till there was you'.
A early UK stereo variant LP in original condition, featuring:
1. in 1964 the 'stereo' record label layout on copies of 'With the Beatles' changed to include the text, 'Sold in UK' etc, the 'font' letter style was also changed. Very early variants of these stereo record labels featured the 'correct' spelling of 'Willson', ie spelt with two 'l's, for the 'writers credit' of the track, 'Till there was you'. However, very early on the printing plates were 'altered' to read the 'incorrect' spelling of, 'Wilson', ie spelt with one 'l'. So nearly all of these stereo record label variants featured the 'incorrect' spelling of, 'Wilson'. It is therefore 'hard to find' an original early 'Willson' spelling on these stereo record label variants, as only a very small number were ever printed,
2. also, a feature of this very early stereo record label variant is the text, 'THE BEATLES' and 'WITH THE BEATLES' is printed noticeably smaller,
3. on the record label on side one, there is an additional 'dot' printed within the text, 'Sold in U.K.' etc, as it reads, 'Sold in .U.K.' etc,
4. each side of the record features the noticeable period, stereo 'deep groove' appearance, most noticeable when the record is 'angled' to the light,
5. the front of the card sleeve features a more unusual 'small stereo logo' printed to the front, top right corner,
6. the card sleeve appears to be made of a slightly 'thicker card', proving this to be an early copy of this particular stereo record label variant,
7. as this is such an early copy of this 'small stereo logo' sleeve, the rear of the card sleeve still features the original, 'uncorrected' spelling error of, ‘Gotta’, but on the record label this track title features the 'corrected', ‘Got a’, spelling for the track, ‘You really got a hold on me’,
8. comes with its original EMI, ‘Use Emitex’ inner sleeve.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The spine is in very good++ condition and all of the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve features the original UK 1960s tri - ‘flipback’ design, ie ‘fold over’ edges. Theres are NO splits, tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original EMI ‘Use Emitex’ inner sleeve. There are NO tears, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is a very slight 'split' to one of the side edges.
THE RECORD: side one is in very good++ condition, side two is in very good+ condition. The record is made from the period, quality 1960s 'thick, heavy' vinyl. The record has remained dark and glossy.
The matrix are: YEX 110 - 2 and YEX 111 – 2,
The mother / stampers are: ‘3 A’ and ‘25 MT’,
THE AUDIO: side one plays excellent, side one plays with some light 'crackle'. Side two, on track one, I did hear some 'ticks' and 'pops' and about half way through track one there was a quick 'skip', so I will grade track one as playing 'good'. On track six, I heard some light 'ticks' at the beginning, so I will grade track six as playing 'very good'. The rest of side two plays excellent with some light 'crackle'. The record plays with a full powerful period 'stereo' sound.
THE RECORD LABELS: side one is in excellent++ condition. Side two is in excellent+ condition. On side one the letters 'KT' are embossed onto the record label around the spindle hole. Each of the record labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.
