2-LP Color Vinyl in a Gatefold jacket with lyrics The 2-LPs contain all of both Machine Fish & Feel the Rage EP in one package Both albums originally released in 1996 on Metal Blade Records  The album was named as a tongue-in-check reference to all the other "successful" bands, albums, or songs at the time that had the word "machine" or "fish" in them.
The artwork depicts a "machine fish," which is actually a garbage sculpture made by bassist Monty Colvin, complete with turning indicator light bulbs for eyes.
The song "Red Sun" actually dates back to 1989. Versions of the song were recorded for the self-titled album and Space In Your Face, but a re-worked version of the song made the cut for Machine Fish.
Feel the Rage features artwork painted by bassist Monty Colvin. A new song "Paradigm Shift" is the second track on the Feel the Rage EP The EP contains two covers; "I Want You" by KISS, and "Junior's Farm" by Wings. Feel the Rage features two live tracks from Machine Fish  The originally un-listed track, dubbed "Grandmother's Coffin," on the EP is a short bluegrass song written during the Machine Fish sessions.

There are some great headbanging moments in "The Struggle" and "Feel the Rage," the latter of which also has a powerful chorus reminiscent of something off of their self-titled debut.

The 1996 double masterpiece from the Galactic Cowboys features 2-LPs containing all of both Machine Fish & Feel the Rage EP in one package. Everything has been remastered to perfection by Rob Colwell of Bomwborks Sound and features deluxe Gatefold Packaging that collector's love (with lyrics!).  Gone is much the the silliness that defined the first two albums.  With the zaniness dialed down we are treated to some scorching rock with melodic multi-layered vocals. With the humor much more mild we can hear the ripping music more clearly. Highlights include: "Fear Not"; "Stress"; "Red Sun"; "Idle Minds"; "9th of June"; and "Arrow." This is a grown up heavy metal album that will melt your face into jellyjam!  Melodic?  Yes!  George Foreman sized hooks?  You bet!  Top-notch lyrics?  Absolutely!  Machine Fish is where the band pooled all their artistic potential and laid it into one single brilliant album.  In fact, they had more in their back pockets than one single album. The same year as Machine Fish they also released the Feel the Rage EP.  That EP is a continuation of Machine Fish - sort of a Part Two!  So both albums are included in their entirety for this 2022 Atomic Blue Double Vinyl release.  It is remastered and comes with a deluxe gatefold designed for the most diligent of collectors!  It features a 2022 remaster for vinyl by Rob Colwell of Bombworks Sound.  Two amazing albums in one single package of two LPs - limited to just 300 units - get this classic while you can!

For me, Galactic Cowboys has three periods: The first: excellent melodic metal heavily influenced by Sam Taylor and the "King's X" sound, which includes the album recorded as The Awful Truth, as well as the first two GC albums. The third: the final three albums from Horse to Let it Go, which I consider to be relatively weak and inconsistent, but still good. And the second: Machine Fish. On this cd they really nailed it. They had stopped trying to clone King's X and abandoned much of the slower, moodier songs for flat-out riff-based metal. Other reviewers had said many of the songs on this cd sound the same -- this is not true at all, unless you think that when every song rocks your face off that they all sound the same. Within that, there is great diversity here: fast songs that rock hard, slower songs that rock hard, quirky songs that rock hard. In short, this album just rocks. I know that their signature sound is all based in the harmonies, blah, blah, blah. Fact is, though, they are a rock band, and they are at their best when they are kicking a**, not sounding lovely. This is THE cd to hear that side of this band. If you like metal, get this disc. You will not be disappointed.
