HERE'S a rare label from 1924: "HOLLYWOOD." This make, one of the few labels based in Los Angeles in the early '20s, really did operate out of Hollywood, thus documenting a lot of local talent.

Some of this local talent: AL BORAK No. 75 BAND D.O.K.K., doing the well-known fox-trot "I LOVE YOU," and the snappy march, "LIGHTS OUT."  This is the first time I've ever seen a peppy fox trot backed with a standard march, by the same group.  Session directed by that well-known non-entity, ARTHUR M. BALUE.

"D.O.K.K." is short for "Dramatic Order of the Knights of Khorassan," the show business branch of the Knights of Pythias.  NOTE that you must ALREADY be a Knight of Pythias before you'll ever be considered for membership in the D.O.K.K.!  You need to apply to the "Eighth Order," then take your application straight to the Imperial Palace. Do NOT mistake The Imperial Palace for the Supreme Lodge! It deals directly with the Temples, and has no dealings with the Grand Lodge!  (I get this poop direct from their WEB PAGE!  The D.O.K.K. and the Knights of Pythias, apparently, are STILL IN BUSINESS in 2022!)

This original 1924 un-numbered Hollywood record is in fairly decent V++ condition. There are some small permanent smudges on the "Lights Out" side.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
