Nick Drake - Five Leaves Left
(Island ILPS 9105 UK LP 1969)
This is a UK LP 1st pressing. It has a heavyweight matt gatefold sleeve. It comes with its original generic polythene-lined company plain paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has Pink Island labels. The pink Island labels have the "black block" circle design. This design was not used for too many LP's on this label. There is only one UK pressing on the pink Island label. 2nd UK pressings have the "pink rim" palm tree label design. The record has 1st press matrix numbers. These are:
Side 1: ILPS 9105 A-2
Side 2: ILPS 9105 B-2
A genuine UK 1st pressing of this classic late 1960's Folk-Jazz-Rock LP. These are incredibly difficult to locate. This LP was not a strong seller in the UK when it was first released. This copy is not mint. However, it is a very serviceable copy. Playback is especially good.
Gatefold Sleeve: There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the top & bottom edges (see photo). This has caused a small 3.5 cm seam split at the centre of the top edge. This is on the rear part of the gatefold sleeve only. There is mild or moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is mild, very mild or more moderate rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges. This is primarily on the rear sleeve opening. There is some mild or very mild rubbing wear on the spine on some areas. The spine text, however, is mainly legible. There is some light or very mild finger tip staining at the rear sleeve opening edge. There is some mild, very mild or more moderate ringwear on some areas.
This sleeve, being a matt sleeve, is extremely prone to wear. This copy is not completely trashed. It mainly shows rubbing wear through being played. There are no rips, tears or writing. Overall, Good++ condition. It is not too far from being in Very Good condition.
Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. There are a few areas of more moderate sleeve rubs. These, also, can only be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on a few areas. These can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, a strong Very Good condition. The labels are in Very Good+ condition and show more moderate spindle wear only. The polythene-lined company inner sleeve is in Very Good condition. It shows light, mild or more moderate ringwear, fading & creasing. It has no seam splits.
I have play tested this LP in its entirety & it plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall, & Excellent in some places. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are a couple of very mild clicks on the track "River Man" on Side 1. There are about 4 mild clicks on the track "Way To Blue" on Side 1. Also, there is some light, mild or very mild crackle that starts in the background of the last track on Side 2, "Saturday Sun". It is not too distracting. Overall, this is a very decent audio copy.
Traceable insurance is already included in the stated P&P price for this listing.
Discount is given on P&P for multiple purchases. I shall always weigh combined purchases to get a completely accurate price. So please wait for the invoice to be sent before paying. Please see below for a more detailed description.
Please note that "Royal Mail" have been having problems with delays to overseas parcels from the UK. This was due to a recent cyber attack. They are now, I believe, starting to sort through their backlog of parcels. So hopefully they will fully resolve this issue very shortly. However, if the parcel situation with Royal Mail is not satisfactorily resolved, I will try and use other couriers for shipping on non UK orders where possible. I will do my utmost to ensure that your order arrives safely & in the quickest time possible. Please message me with any queries regarding this.
AN INVOICE WILL BE SENT TO YOU VERY SOON AFTER THE AUCTION ENDS. PLEASE WAIT FOR THIS BEFORE PAYING.
Royal Mail have very recently increased their postage rates. So I have revised my postage costs to reflect their increases. (Please note that these prices include packaging costs too)
Double LPs are classed as two LPs. Also gatefold sleeves, posters, inserts, etc.. can increase postage costs. One parcel must not exceed 2kg (approximately 4-6 LP's).
Please note that there are now VAT import charges from the UK into all EU countries. Anything under 150 Euros will need an IOSS number. VAT is paid at point of sale. For any items over 150 Euros in value. There will be a customs charge too. These vary, I believe, from country to country. Please check your relevant postal service online for details. Please note that these charges are beyond my control and are now the law for outside parcels going into the EU.
All records will be sent in high quality vinyl mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7" Single. I use a cruciform box for larger orders (3-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment.
I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).
I consider my postage & packaging costs to be very transparent & very fair. Packaging costs will generally be between £0.80 to £1.50. I am not adding any further costs for handling, etc...
If you are uncertain about any of the above, or just simply want some information regarding any item, please do not hesitate to contact me. I welcome any questions.
Remember to check out Lots of rare & quality vinyl! Most are UK 1st Pressings. It is quite likely that there will be more records by this artist, or records in a similar vein.
