The Beatles, ‘Please Please Me’ Original UK Mono Press, third label variation with impossibly rare label error on side two showing lines six and seven swapped.

I can almost guarantee that this will be the only copy I will ever come across in my life time, and I am glad to be able to pass it on to another collector. This is one of, if not the hardest to find, and most sought after label errors ever! This label variation is harder to find than even the Stereo Please Please Me Gold Label.

A very small number of copies (to date, and to quote a sold listing from 2021, ‘it looks like only 4-5 have ever been discovered’) have an error where lines 6 and 7 have been swapped, meaning that track 4 is listed as ‘Do You Want to Know’, before listing track 6 immediately after as ‘There's a Place a Secret’.

To caveat, and because I’m sure he’s reading this… Andrew from Parlogram, I only have this because of the knowledge I gained from your videos! Drop me a message!

Such an error would have been caught and sorted immediately, with copies being destroyed by the factory. A handful of copies seemingly escaped, one of which being this one.

With the arrival of eBay and Discogs in the early millennium, rare Beatles records are easy to be found, albeit at high prices, it will be gems like these that continue to hold their high value as they are impossible to find in the wild.

I am completely willing to open this sale to offers, as quite frankly there isn’t a set market on this item at the moment. Please feel free to send over what you would be willing to pay, and we can discuss further. No offer will go unconsidered.

I am a huge Beatles fan and vinyl collector. This item is coming from a loving, careful home.

T&Cs: I ask that you please message me before purchasing this item. Accounts with less than satisfactory feedback will be unable to purchase this item.

VINYL

The record itself plays beautifully, with standard 60 year old surface noise throughout, most notably on quiet tracks like ‘Do You Want To Know A Secret’. No skips or jumps. I think after a solid professional clean on a more sophisticated machine a lot of surface noise could possibly be eliminated. Visually I would grade as a VG+, with playback a solid VG-. As you can see from the pictures there are no deep scratches and the disc is nice and clean and shiny.

SIDE 2: 4 XEX 422-1N OH

Nice and early indeed…

LABELS

The pictures speak louder than words ever could in terms of label descriptions. Spindle wear on both sides and the side 2 Parlophone text on the label is slightly faded. KT tax stamp on side 1.

COVER

Nice and shiny with clear intact spine text. Again, pictures speak louder than words here. No writing on the cover but as you can see the top left of the flab has been sellotaped. This could possibly be removed very carefully with the right materials but I daren’t try. Printed by Ernest J. Day & Co. With tidy Emitex inner.
