Following the legendary bluesman's popular collaboration with , this album continues his work with mostly younger musicians and predates similar projects and by about 20 years. spans the gap by appearing on this 1972 release and . , are major contributors. Jazz violinist helps "Boogie With the Hook" take off and adds a mournful touch to the harrowing "T.B. Sheets," which is much more restrained here than on the earlier debut release by Morrison.

Recorded September 28 and 29,1971 at Wally Heider Recordings, San Francisco and released in 1972, with the participation, among others, of Van Morrison (vocal and guitar on the title track), Elvin Bishop (slide guitar on "Country Boy" and "Never Get Out Of These Blues Alive"), Charlie Musselwhite (harmonica on "Hit the Road" and "Country Boy"), Mark Naftalin (piano), and Luther Tucker (guitar on most of the tracks).
