Relisted as an auction open to offers. This is one of the nicest RL copies I’ve found in several years.
Led Zeppelin II "RL SS" on Both Sides and this is a Monarch Pressing!
This is a spectacular copy. It has about 98% of what my NM perfect copy has. The not so good is what I assume is the original owner stamped his name on the label side 1 and the inside of the jacket. Side one has a visible scuff mark that in one song causes a few soft background ticks in the loud passages which means not very noticeable, but should be mentioned. I've gone ahead and play tested this with an audio technica shibata stylus on a highly resolving setup which hides nothing in playback. This is a quality copy that leaves very little to be desired. Vinyl is shiny with very little sleeve marks, when I pulled this out the first time I thought…damn this is a clean one!
Jacket: VG+, has some edge wear but front cover art is nice, some tape and small seem split, less than 1 inch.
Vinyl:
Side 1 Visually EX due to the pictured scuff, would be EX+
Whole lot of Love- Light static sound in the lead in deadwax before the song plays, disappears as song play begins only a light surface noise detectable when the song gets quiet and starts to get psychedelic for a few seconds other wise this song plays loud and hard.
What Is and What Should Never Be- Light static sound in the lead in before the song plays, quiet sections may have light surface static, loud passages do not.
The Lemon Song- Oh my God the bass is loud in this song.. This is the only track that has a few soft ticks, curious enough I played it twice and the second time I couldn't really hear it possibly got better or I was playing it louder.
Thank You - Light surface noise detectable during the song.
Side 2 Visually EX+ to NM
Heartbreaker - Faintest surface noise on the lead in before play, disappears as the song begins and the playback is CD like except analogue better
Living Loving Maid - Breathtakingly clear
Ramble On - Quiet passages. no surface noise between songs again super powerful bass
Moby Dick- Faint surface noise in the quiet section before the track play begins which but the start of the song is clear clean and powerful.
Bring it On Home- Clean transition before song starts but not CD quiet playback, eerily airy vocals and echoes and again more bass great recording and playback.
I've tried to be as descriptive as possible above and I think I've been nit picky critical. That being said go find an EX+ to NM Rock LP from the 60's that has perfect CD quality playback, this is vinyl and some static like surface noise goes with the territory and as mentioned my system does not gloss over or hide anything.
In conclusion, this is an outstanding copy that plays the music loud and true. If it was my only copy, my search would be over and I'd be satisfied. I've owned several others in VG to VG+ shape that were solid. players with some scratches but this here is clearly the next level. Will be shipped with a solid. Whiplash brand LP mailer, never had an issue. with over 100 shipments. Because of the value of this LP it will be shipped with USPS priority for faster delivery and will require a signature for receipt.
