A Momentary Lapse of Reason is the thirteenth studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd, released in the UK on 7 September 1987 by EMI and the following day in the US on Columbia.  It was the first Pink Floyd album recorded without founding member Roger Waters, who departed in 1985. The production was marred by legal fights over the rights to the Pink Floyd name, which were not resolved until several months after release. It also saw the return of the keyboardist and founding member Richard Wright as a session player, after he was fired by Waters during the recording of The Wall (1979).

Unlike Pink Floyd's five preceding studio records, A Momentary Lapse of Reason is not a concept album. It includes writing contributions from outside songwriters, following Gilmour's decision to include material once intended for his third solo album. The album was promoted with three singles: the double A-side "Learning to Fly" / "Terminal Frost", "On the Turning Away", and "One Slip".

A Momentary Lapse of Reason received mixed reviews; some critics praised the production and instrumentation but criticized Gilmour's songwriting, and it was derided by Waters. It was nonetheless a commercial comeback for the band, reaching number three in the UK and US, and outsold Pink Floyd's previous album The Final Cut (1983).

Here is a PROMO copy of the 1st Carrollton pressing, with the cover that has a black border around the photo.  Note also that above the PROMO stamp (in the upper right corner of the back cover, see photo), there is a number (“0000”).  Not sure if that qualifies as “numbered” per se, but I have flagged it in case it is of interest to you.

VINYL CONDITION:  There are some visible rubbings, presumably from the paper inner sleeve.  There is one visible scratch across the second song on side two – but per a test listen, I could not detect it in the audio playback.  VG+

COVER CONDITION: Only the ghost of ring wear.  EX

INNER SLEEVE CONDITION:  EX

 Notes

Original pressing but with second sleeve design featuring a black border around image on cover. Strictly speaking, this is not a 're-press' because the discs were not 're-pressed' at this stage. Only the sleeve was altered, and the first pressing run discs were then housed within. This album had a massive pressing run, and as per usual large record label policy, probably more discs were pressed initially than sleeves printed.

This Album was recorded digitally, with the exception of the acoustic drums and bass guitar which were recorded analogue. Dolby SR noise reduction was used for mixing; mastered direct to metal

"Precision DMM" is etched on dead wax, which means "Direct Metal Mastering"

Custom printed inner sleeve.
