1999 is the fifth studio album by the American singer-songwriter and musician Prince, released on October 27, 1982, by Warner Bros. Records. It became his first album to be recorded with his band the Revolution.  1999 was Prince's breakthrough album, although not as successful as his next album, Purple Rain.  The album was his first top 10 album on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States (peaking at number 9, besting that peak at number 7 after his death in 2016) and became the fifth best-selling album on Billboard’s Year-End Albums list for 1983.  1999 became his first top 10 hit in countries outside the United States, and eventually it was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA.

THIS COPY is a 1982 first Specialty Records Corporation pressing, catalog number 9 23720 1-F, on the Warner Bros. label (see Notes, below).  It is a double LP set which comes in a single cardboard sleeve made wide enough to accommodate the two discs.  Of some interest is the fact that it contains a misprint on the second side:  in the text that appears around the edge of the label, in one of the two places where it should say "Made in USA", it says "Made in   S A" - missing the letter "U".

The vinyl has some marks, but none that affect playback.  The vinyl is in Very Good Plus [VG+] condition. The cover has just the ghost of ring wear; otherwise it is still bright, also in Very Good Plus [VG+] condition. The inner sleeves, each featuring a photo on one side and lyrics on the other, have splits along the seams, including the second one which has a whole side that has separated.  Overall, with no other flaws (such as tears, writing, stains, etc.) they are in Very Good [VG] condition.
