Van der Graaf's third album of dramatic prog explorations. VDGG once again create intense and moving musical statements with only drums, flutes, sax, organs, and minimal acoustic guitar with Peter Hammill utilising his lead vocals as almost another instrument. Robert Fripp contributes some guest improv guitar solos on 'Emperor in his war room' and he nails it perfectly. So highly original and heavy non-rock that deserves to be truly appreciated. This UK pressing is on the Charisma 'Mad hatter' label and both cover and vinyl are in strong EX/EX. Some minimal storage wear along the edges show clearly in the photos. VDGG perfect their craft on this third LP and it is a highly recommended listen.
