So, what’s this? Firstly, it features excellent sound, because all tracks were remastered and speed corrected. Excellent to very good quality masters, and off-air recordings. Just released by Verne Records, this special pressing is a collection of unique and yet- unreleased studio and live recordings taped by the Beatles for the British Broadcasting Corporation between March 1962 and May 1965. This 118-minute, carefully prepared double album contains 53 tracks NOT available on EITHER EMI/Apple Records titles “Live At The BBC” (1994) and “On Air Live At The BBC Volume Two” (2013).

That’s because a number of the BBC recordings have been lost, wiped or never recorded by the corporation, at a time when they didn’t fully know the cultural impact of the Beatles. Luckily, a great deal of broadcasts were saved for posterity by the British fans and collectors, and some of those were even included on official releases! Many of the performances included cover versions which the band never recorded for EMI. It’s also worth noting that three titles included here “The Night Before”, “I Should Have Known Better” and “I Call Your Name” were omitted from both EMI/Apple albums mentioned above. In addition, two covers with Pete Best still on drums “Dream Baby” and “A Picture Of You” are still yet to be released in any form!

Be the first in the USA to give it a listen! My only copy. Not available anywhere yet.
