"It's no surprise that Cleveland has a musical history that includes some
of punk's most nihilistic-sounding bands. From the noisy rage of Rocket
From the Tombs and Electric Eels to the Pagans—check. These guys were
the second wave, along with the Pagans, as this stuff was recorded in
'78-'80, instead of the early-to-mid-'70s. They still have a Stooges
influence, like the rest of those bands, with violent gigs and wild
stage antics, no fashion statements, slogans, or other contrived
bullshit. Kneecappers were the antithesis of melodic punk, opting for a
gritty, depressive garage rock feel. The tracks vary in length;
"Emergency Room" is seven minutes long and all sludgy, molten guitar
nastiness, while some of the others ("Blood on the Windshield", "Urban
Kill", or "We Will Bury You") are a more aggressive two-to-three
minutes, with blazing guitar and mean vocals. There's a mix of cheaply
recorded studio stuff and live material. Just look at the song titles
and you get a feel for the sound." - "vandaleyes" & rateyourmusic.com
