Description
Abbey Road is the 11th studio album released by the English rock bandthe Beatles. It is their last recorded album, although Let It Be was the lastalbum released before the band's dissolution in 1970. Work on Abbey Road beganin April 1969, and the album was released on 26 September 1969 in the UnitedKingdom, and 1 October 1969 in the United States.
While Abbey Road is a rock album, it also incorporates genres such asblues, pop, and progressive rock. The album was released amid tensions withinthe band. Although it was a commercial success, it received mixed reviews frommusic critics who found its music inauthentic and criticized the production'sartificial effects. Since its initial reception, the album has been viewed bymany critics as the Beatles' greatest work and is ranked by severalpublications as one of the greatest albums of all time. Abbey Road remainstheir best-selling album.
