Description

Abraxas is the second studio album bythe Latin-influenced rock band Santana. Consolidating the interest generated bytheir first album, Santana followed-up with Abraxas in September 1970. Thealbum's mix of rock, blues, jazz, salsa and other influences was very wellreceived, showing a musical maturation from their first album and refining theband's early sound.

Abraxas features a mixture of Latin influences with familiar rockthemes such as showcased electric guitar, organ, and heavy drums. The albumalso demonstrates Santana's stylistic versatility, including tracks such as"Samba Pa Ti" (a classic slow-burning piece) and "Incident at Neshabur both being instrumentals. The latter hasseveral rhythm and time signature changes consistent with its jazz feel. Latinpercussion — congas, bongos and timbales, as well as a conventional rock drumsetup, expanded Santana's foray into Latin rhythm.

Subjective

This press is in excellent condition, it is a  beautiful looking record and retains all of its deep mirror-like lustre and shine and has no apparent groove-wear.

Playing

I recently played it again, the tracks I listened to played through lovelly.  I don’t think it has any significant hissing, jumps, skips, between track crackle and nasty loud pops.

History

It has been in my collection since new and only played a few times on a quality turntable.

Definitions

Near Mint Condition

Very  nearly mint just slightly under, maybe a couple of very, very light paper  sleeve scuffs that can only be seen under strong light. Some would class this as mint. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. Cover is virtually  perfect - very minimal wear only.

Excellent Condition

A clean & tidy copy that shows virtually no defects. Maybe one or two light needle scuffs or light sleeve removal marks that can only be seen under strong light. There will be no scratches. Play will be near perfect with no distortion. Cover will be very nice with maybe very minimal creasing, ringwear or edgewear.
