This one's rare, raunchy 'n rockin'. It's so awful that it's great! So, stop scratchin' your head. This is serious rock 'n' roll record -- and collectors absolutely love this recording. Don't be chicken. If you'll just stop cluckin' around, you'll notice there's something strange going down in the chicken coop. Great two-sider. This is an early Del-Fi release from 1950s. "Chicken Grabber" by The Nite Hawks, although not a success at the time, was featured in John Waters' film Pink Flamingos. The tune is a wild and slightly demented instrumental with crazy cackels and growling vocals ... "Here chick, chick, chick, yeah." You flip it over and another wild raver awaits you with "Big Top." Both sides of this thing are smokin' hot and well worth your ears. Both songs written by Nesbert Hooper Jr., a veteran jazz drummer (you may know him as Stix Hooper). One record critic says The Nite Hawks are one of the bigger names to come out of the Del Fi label (of course, Ritchie Valens was the biggest). This is the group that became better known as the Crusaders (or Jazz Crusaders). Obviously, a very different sound than the clucking chicken. Nite Hawks released one more record on the Pacific label ("Bunny Ride" b/w "Sweetie Lester" ).
