GRADING SYSTEM

SS : Still Sealed.  A record that has not been opened.  The record may have defects from the manufacturing process, or storage damage from temperature extremes which cannot be detected without opening the record.  We do not accept returns on still sealed items once they have been opened.

NM : Near Mint.  The record may have a few very light surface marks that do not affect play or the overall appearance.  There are no scratches (but there may be a line scuff). 

On the cover there may be a minor spot of wear in one or two places, but no ringwear, splits, or tears.

EX : Excellent. The record may have a few more light marks than NM.  It should still play with no skips and no significant or sustained noise.  

The cover or packaging may have a couple of imperfections such as sticker residue, a bit more wear than NM, a very small notch or marker mark, very small writing, or very light surface wear in one place.

VG+ : Very Good Plus. The record exhibits more obvious wear than EX but will play with very little to no noise.  Scratches and marks are light, but they may be longer, more numerous and more obvious.  The record shows signs that it was played by an owner who otherwise took good care of it.  A VG+ record is worth owning if you intend to listen to it regularly.

Covers may have a few accumulated defects such as stickers/residue, edgewear, light ringwear, corner wear, a name written or other ink marks, and small surface tears or creasing.

VG : Very Good. A well-used record with more numerous or pronounced signs of wear than a VG+.  There may be some noise when played, especially in soft passages, and visually there could be many light marks and scuffs.  These should not result in a sustained scratchy, crackly playback, but the occasional pop or hiss. 

Covers may have a number of flaws, including partial splits, more noticeable wear, and many instances of writing.

VG- : Very Good Minus. Still more wear resulting in more noticeable noise, but no skips. 

Covers may have a longer split or a little tape at the seams, significant dents, creases, stains or writing, signs of water damage or other discoloration, or larger tears.

G : Good. This means that the record will play with significant noise (snaps and crackles) and may have some skips.  The record exhibits an obvious well-worn appearance and has lost much of its gloss.  

Covers show multiple instances of significant defects.
