About the album
In the Court of the Crimson King is the debut studio album by the British rock group King Crimson. The album reached number five on the British charts, and is certified gold in the United States, where it reached #28 on the Billboard 200.
The album is generally viewed as one of the first works to truly embody the progressive rock genre, where King Crimson largely departed from the blues influences that rock music had been founded upon and mixed together jazz and classical symphonic elements. In his 1997 book Rocking the Classics, critic and musicologist Edward Macan notes that In the Court of the Crimson King "may be the most influential progressive rock album ever released". The Who's Pete Townshend was quoted as calling the album "an uncanny masterpiece". In the Q & Mojo Classic Special Edition Pink Floyd & The Story of Prog Rock, the album came fourth in its list of "40 Cosmic Rock Albums". The album was named as one of Classic Rock magazine's "50 Albums That Built Prog Rock".

Subjective
This press is in excellent condition, it is a beautiful looking record and retains all of its deep mirror-like lustre and shine and has no apparent groove-wear.
Playing
I recently played it again, the tracks I listened to played through lovely. I don’t think it has any significant hissing, jumps, skips, between track crackle and nasty loud pops.
History
It has been in my collection since new and only played a few times on a quality turntable.

Definitions
Near Mint Condition
Very nearly mint just slightly under, maybe a couple of very, very light paper sleeve scuffs that can only be seen under strong light. Some would class this as mint. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. Cover is virtually perfect - very minimal wear only.
Excellent Condition
A clean & tidy copy that shows virtually no defects. Maybe one or two light needle scuffs or light sleeve removal marks that can only be seen under strong light. There will be no scratches. Play will be near perfect with no distortion. Cover will be very nice with maybe very minimal creasing, ring wear or edge wear.
