Condition (see guide at bottom of page)

Please note: I would very rarely use "Mint" or "Nearly Mint" as a condition, as this would imply to me that the record has never been played.

I therefore would normally use EX as the highest grade, and only use this when the record and sleeve are really in excellent condition.

Vinyl: EX

Only played once (to grade)

Sleeve: VG

Some scuffing, and the record imprint can be seen where is has scuffed the sleeve. There is some scuffing, and the spine is creased (see pictures) and a small rip on the spine (2cm).

All vinyl records however well kept will accumulate dust in the grooves which will affect the sound of the recording.

Therefore all records sold are cleaned on my Moth professional record cleaner.

The machine gently brushes the dust from the grooves with a mixture of alcohol and distilled water.

It then vacuums off the residue fluid and dirt leaving a dirt free surface and a quieter surface.

Vinyl & Sleeve Grading

I have used the Record Collector's Grading System as detailed on the Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide (see bottom of page for details).

Records will be graded by visual inspection and playing (wherever possible).  If this is not the case, i.e. visual inspection only due to time constraints, I will detail this in the listing.

I realise grading it is a subjective issue and opinions may differ: As stated, I am a private collector, not a business, so I do not do this for a living! If you are unhappy with the condition of any record you simply return the record (at your cost) within 14 days of receipt and I will refund the full amount of your payment.

Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
