All the records I list are part of my very own private collection, purchased new in the 60s and 70s and transferred straight away into cardboard sleeves, for added protection. I’m a private seller, not a record dealer.

For more than 30 years my record collection has remained un-played and in storage, with the records upright in wooden record cases and I would consider most to be in “Near-Mint” or “Excellent” condition.  (See Record Grading explanation below)

Original 1966 US pressing of this Classic Motown Double-Sider, on
V.I.P 25037.

The record itself is in excellent + condition, but both labels are slightly marked following removal of a small round index sticker and the record does have a drill hole. (See Pics)

RECORD HISTORY, DESCRIPTION AND GRADINGS

I bought my records brand new, from reputable Record Shops.

My US import records were  purchased new from Specialist Record Shops in Manchester City Centre (Mainly from the “Spin Inn” and “Ralph’s Records” ) apart from a few rarer ones in the 70’s, which were sourced from a trusted DJ friend who had “contacts” in the Northern Soul Scene.

All my records have been looked after. They’ve not been traded or passed from one person to another, like some records offered for sale on EBay.

Record Version

I always try to include record version details in my listings to show whether the record is a genuine UK or US first issue or a subsequent re-release. Where the issue status is not known or can‘t be confirmed, the record will always be listed with “reissue” shown in inverted commas.

RECORD GRADING EXPLANATION

NEAR-MINT

The record has all the appearances of a new record with little sign of having been played. Both labels will be perfect unless otherwise stated.

EXCELLENT

The record shows some minor signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. Both labels will be perfect unless otherwise stated.

VERY GOOD

The record has been played a number of times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite some surface marks and/or the occasional light scratch. Both labels will be in excellent condition unless otherwise stated

In addition to my descriptions, I always provide pictures of my records out of their cardboard sleeves, so you can see the record in full and on both sides.

STYRENE RECORDS

Most of my 60s and early 70s US import records are pressed on styrene rather than vinyl.

Styrene is generally less resilient than vinyl and is more prone to the occasional “pop and crackle”. Most of my imports though have had relatively few plays and all of them have been well looked after.

Q & A

If you have any questions about any of my records, please feel free to contact me. Many Thanks.

For those new to Northern Soul and those looking to build up their collection, I will be listing more Northern Soul and Motown records over the coming weeks, so watch out for my listings, which will be up for auction every Saturday and Sunday morning.

THANK YOU AND HAPPY BIDDING !
