Ngoma test pressing, J2325/J2326

Tracks: "Ovogo" / "Ikango"

Really hypnotic, trance-like music, with very interesting vocals and percussion...but the driving nature of the recording is quite special.

Recorded in the early 50s by Ngoma, and likely released somewhere around number 1100-1150 or therabouts. I've checked one available Ngoma catalog, and it was not listed, though the catalog concentrated on pop music. There are clues written in pen on the disc - the artist "Asimba" could be a person's name or it could be the old name for an area called Asimba-land in some texts. Also in pen is the French word "brousse" - meaning, "the bush."


Condition: E (few superficial marks, plays E+)
