One of the strangest school records I have ever encountered. Titled The "Best Of The Blues", The Golden Blues of The Choate School. This includes two fairly big names, Ian Underwood, and Steve Swallow. This is from their school days likely late 50's, very early 60's (no year is given). Of course Ian Underwood would gain renown with Frank Zappa and The Mothers Of Invention, and Steve Swallow would become an ace jazz bassist, playing with such folks as Gary Burton (Steve is actually playing the trumpet on this record!). It also features "The Bearded Stranger" on Bongos, no idea who that could be... Based on the appearances it looks like this was recorded in the beatnik times at a fairly hip school. Interesting note, the track "The Preacher" is just the trio of Ian Underwood, Steve Swallow, and Mase Morfit, so weird to see the two biggest names in their school days on the same track.
This has never come up before, and I wonder if Steve Swallow or Ian Underwood even have a copy....
Includes cool tracks such as: Opus De Funk, Elephant Rock, The Preacher, Mambo Loco, and The Creep, great bluesy jazzy school album, I don't even know if another copy exists at this point.
Vinyl Condition: VG (The main problem is grime, a deep clean with a VPI would probably take care of that, otherwise their are some sleeve scuffs, and one feeler for half the duration of "wagon wheels")
Cover Condition: VG (The only real problem here is the seam split that goes for most of the top seam, otherwise it's an EX)

I've been a record collector myself for about 7 years, I have over 2,000 records, I understand what is expected of a seller, I grade using visual and actually playing the record to maximize accuracy, I always strive to grade to the best and most accurate way, My Grading Scale is: SS (still sealed), M (mint, no mint minus, for me this grade will only ever apply to something I personally unsealed, and had zero defects) NM (+ or -), EX, VG+, VG, VG-, G (I don't sell G records, it would have to be something incredibly valuable/rare). I list psych, jazz, funk, soul, freaks, folkways, international, electronic, private press, xian, latin, classical, RARES, and more! Add me as a saved search for seller as I list every week :)  <P>
THIS WEEK I HAVE RARE: ALTERNATIVE ROCK, PRIVATE PRESS, FOLKWAYS, CLASSICAL, MIDDLE EASTERN, GOSPEL, EXOTICA, OBSCURITIES, WORLD MUSIC AND MORE!
International Buyers, PLEASE WAIT FOR MY INVOICE! I do combine shipping :). My packing is industry standard, each record comes with a plastic sleeve, the record is removed from the jacket for shipping to avoid seam splits, bid with confidence! I'm a record collector, so I know what is to be expected :)
