    A word on PROMOTIONAL COPIES:  LP promotional copies in most cases came from FIRST PRESSINGS and usually pulled from the front of the press run.  First pressings, which come as close to the original master disc as possible, matter to audiophiles.  Also, cover drills (holes), corner cuts and cover notches were a common way for the record labels to designate non-returnable promo copies for retail stores.  Not all promo copies were "stamped" for promotion.
