Sam Cooke was a Pioneer in Soul Music. In 1964 he recorded "Shake" and "A Change is Gonna Come". Both songs were written by him, and came from his last Recording Session before he was killed. The record was issued posthumously (RCA 8486). "Shake" spent 11 Weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, rising to #7 in 1965. It also made the Top 10 on the R&B Singles Chart. Cooke had 30 Top 40 hits in his lifetime and several more following his death. "A Change is Gonna Come" became an anthem for the civil rights movement. It spent 7 Weeks on the Hot 100 and rose to #31 It also rose to Top 10 on the R&B Singles chart. The record shows some signs of wear. The vinyl is very good but the label shows minor abrasions from having been played. Everything is legible but light scuffing is present. The sleeve is in good condition with "76 Cafe" written in the upper left corner, as seen in the photograph. It is also possible to see the small tear extending 1/2 way from the bottom of the label cutout toward the bottom of the sleeve. It is rare to find a single 45 with top 40.hits on both sides.
