"THE DRIFTER'S ESCAPE" (Bob Dylan, 1968)
Oh, help me in my weakness,
I heard the drifter say,
As they carried him from the court room,
And were taking him away.
Well, my trip hasn't been a pleasant one,
And my time it isn't long,
And I still do not know,
What is was that I've done wrong.
Well the judge he cast his robe aside,
A tear came to his eye;
"Well, you fail to understand," he said,
"Why must you even try?"
Outside the crowd was stirring,
You could hear it from the door,
Inside the judge was stepping down,
While the jury cried for more, more, more,
Cried for more, cried for more.
Hey, you better leave that boy's soul alone,
Oh, stop that passing the jury,
Grab me a tendon, and me a nurse,
Oh, the trial was bad enough.
Yes, but this is ten times worse,
Just then bolt of lightning,
Showed the court house out of shape,
And while everybody knelt to pray,
The drifter made his escape,
The drifter did his escape.
Yeah.....
JIMI HENDRIX: " Loose Ends..... " LP, VERY FIRST UK PRESSING, ISSUED 14th FEBRUARY, 1974.
THE TRACKS WERE RECORDED JULY,1967 - JULY,1970.
POLYDOR LABEL: 2310 301 SUPER
MAITRIX: 232020 A // 1 0 4 1 1 / 232020 B // 1 1 1 ? (possibly 4)
The very first pressing made and surprisingly the very first made were made on the 1960's -1970 press, creating virtually a flat
outer rim on the labels. The label centres per individual sides, have a convex and a concave ring around the spindle hole, by
1974 those features had long disappeared on Polydor pressings, then 1974 was not that far past 1970 and the labels are just as
definitive identification of the UK "Loose Ends....." very first made records, as the above 'A // 1 / B // 1'.
ORIGINAL 1974 POLYDOR INNER SLEEVE, ALTHOUGH NOT CODE DATED ON THE BOTTOM, AN UNPLAYED RECORD
CAN ONLY EVER BE IN THE ORIGINAL IT WAS FIRST PLACED INSIDE. UNUSED, UNSPLIT AND JUST NATURAL
AGEING AND A FEW LIGHT RIPPLES. THE 'AGEING' IS IN FACT, THE EDGES WHERE THE POLY-LINING WAS GLUED
TO THE ABSORBENT PAPER, SO THE GRADING HAS TO BE NEAR MINT CONDITION.
FIRST ISSUE 'MacNeill Press' COVER, THERE WERE MANY RE-PRESSINGS IN EVERY DECADE, ONLY THE VERY
FIRST COVERS HAD A NON SHEEN, MATT FINISH TOP SURFACE.
Typical of the 1970's, a very thin, matt cardboard cover that was instantly prone to severe wear, with the usual constant use they
are in a terrible state today. Like the 1972 "War Heroes" first issue cover, this also had a dark brown background and repeated
horrific ring wear even on above average covers. I always give an honest appraisal of every cover regardless of when ultimate
condition records are inside them. Unplayed, this was not used to remove and return the record, stored in a plastic sleeve that
has prevented heavy handling and minimalised the storage traits. The inevitable record impression and a few related edge lines
but the complete back and front are in superb unscuffed and unworn condition, I must tread carefully because this does have a
few more points to detail. The extremities only have the merest brushing, but even that is too minor to take seriously for this
genuine 1974 first issue "Loose Ends....." cover. The plastic sleeve preserved virtually all the top surface, preventing fading
or colour loss to the dark brown background or the usual severe rubbing and out of control ring wear, having no ring wear acts
to demonstrate the outstanding condition. The colour Jimi Hendrix pictures on the front and back, the printed text are unaged,
still the original pure white, that even applies to the spine, allowing for typical ink colour saturation during the printing.
All the printing is perfectly clear and unworn, like every first issue, there are ripples in the spine but the right corners are
square shaped and near perfect, the spine tips or left side corners have very minor standing pressure/light wear. The unused
opening sides are perfectly crisp and unfrayed, as I said, a truly exceptional first issue cover, unused or not, I will grade
this very strictly... if there is a finer, better preserved "Loose Ends....." cover cover than this, I would love to see it!
A BEAUTIFUL COVER IN AN ABSOLUTE MINIMUM OF EXCELLENT+++ / NEAR MINT CONDITION.
THE RECORD IS COMPLETELY UNMARKED, THE IMMACULATE LABEL CENTRE'S HAVE SUBSTANTIAL VINYL SHAVINGS
STILL IN PLACE FROM THE FINAL STAGE OF THE PRESSING PROCESS.
THE RECORD IS IN UNPLAYED, MINT CONDITION.

Jimi Hendrix compilations of unreleased tracks in the 1970's were treated with the greatest respect, today one unreleased track
would form a double album filled with readily available material. "Loose Ends" offers every second of both sides with unheard and
unreleased recordings, no session musicians were required to pad out solo demo's, the above album credits read like the albums
issued in Jimi's lifetime. Just take the intensive and inspired interpretation of Bob Dylan's "The Drifter's Escape," so stunning,
it would have graced any of those album's issued in his lifetime, for me, the stand-out tracks is "Hootchie Cootchie Man," red
hot, powerful blues, with that guitar genius heard to it's most potent. How about the sensational early instrumental version of
"Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland )" for a short but incredible insight into the "Electric Ladyland" recording sessions?
No overdubbing, just fantastic music, for a superb Jimi Hendrix composition and magnificent performance, just listen to how tight
his guitar was, the funky feel is a joy to hear. Jimi Hendrix performed a live version of Carl Perkins' "Blue Sued Shoes" and it
was recorded at Berkeley Community Center, California, in 1970, available to hear on the essential "Hendrix In The West" album.
"Loose Ends" contains the only studio version and you have the extra personalisation, Jimi gives instructions to the musicians for
how he wanted the tempo. Absolutely priceless....the only true Stereo mix of "The Stars That Play With Laughing Sam's Dice, "
when I first heard that in 1974 I was amazed and at first thought it was an alternative version, but the differences to the 1967
mono mix was just colossal and what incredible stereo panning! So it should be, Eddie Kramer who helped to engineer the album,
mixed that especially for "Loose Ends" and he was the one and only man to know exactly how Jimi would have wanted it to sound.
If that has escaped you, play a Mint copy and you will be blown clean away by the staggering panning effects, the guitar moves
between the speakers in a hypnotic fashion and makes the mono version sound one dimensional and static. I bought that single in
1967 and and love it, but that was a mono 60's decade and the exclusive stereo version here leaves you incredulous! I always get
worried about my genuine enthusiasm being seen as salemanship, I mean every word I write and this is Jimi Hendrix! Maybe I have
said more than enough, I cannot possibly play the record because of the rarity, previously during our 15 years on ebay, I have
only ever sold a first pressing in unplayed, Mint condition once. Even for the many re-issues, Mint has been just as elusive, the
only re-issue was a much later pressing from the Jimi Hendrix Box Set. They were standard pressings of the time with the then
complete back catalogue, all the covers were gold stamped on the back, stating "Jimi Hendrix Box Set", by then the covers had a
shiny top surface, moving onto re-issues is definitely enough said about an unplayed very first pressing!

R & M RECORDS.
My lifetime's love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960's decade
in general had a very profound effect. It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl
into becoming a professional record seller. Nearly thirty years ago we entered into the wonderful atmosphere
of record fairs with the highest possible standards set. When the Internet became the world's new market place for
vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay. Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be,
the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly
and very efficient service we are proud to provide;
EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A 'NO ARGUMENT' MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY
FROM THE U.K. "RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE" BOOK.
THERE IT CLEARLY STATES "Sound Quality" AFFECTS EVERY GRADING LEVEL AND THAT IS THE ONE
AND ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO ACCURATELY GRADE RECORDS. i.e. COMBINING A STRICT VISUAL
INSPECTION WITH VERY CLOSELY LISTENING TO EVERY SECOND, UNLESS PERHAPS IN THE CASE
OF GENUINELY UNPLAYED VINYL. EVEN THEN WE STILL TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR A RECORD
WHEN A CUSTOMER RECEIVES EITHER A SEALED OR AN UNPLAYED RECORD.
We take 100% responsibility after an item has been posted and offer our fullest support in the event of any problems.
"There Are No Problems, Only Solutions" (John Lennon)
MY DESCRIPTIONS WILL ALWAYS BE 100% HONEST AND TOTALLY ACCURATE ON ALL GRADINGS
FROM 'V.G.' ( VERY GOOD), TO THE ULTIMATE 'MINT' CONDITION.

ONLY PROFESSIONALLY PACKED BOXES WITH SUBSTANTIAL PROTECTIVE PACKAGING THAT DOES
WEIGH A LITTLE EXTRA.
UNDER PAYPAL & EBAY'S GUIDELINES, ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA A FULLY INSURED TRACKABLE
SERVICE.
We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office's new price increases, regretfully we
will have to increase the cost of LP's, however, singles will remain unchanged. Ebay were aware of that happening and have
increased their minimum postal cost for LP's to £7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become
our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of £46. A temporary reduction this week means we can
now post LP's for £5, but who knows how long before the Post Office return to £7?
For LP's valued above £46, the cost will be £9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant
in 13 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.
IN THE UK RECORDS UP TO THE VALUE OF £46 WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY, OVER £46 WILL BE
SENT SPECIAL DELIVERY.
FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA 'INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR.'
