It’s not difficult to see how much the NYD influenced bands like the Pistols, with Thunders’ guitar licks liberally copied by Steve Jones. At the time they wouldn’t have sounded (or looked) like anyone else. This is storming, raucous rock ‘n’ roll, setting a template not just for punk, but also for much of the ’70s rock sound.
