Columbia 1148-X

Artist: Johnny Perry's Capeverdean Serenaders
Tracks
: Saudades do Mindêlo / Amôr é Nha Desgraça

Seriously rare disc of early music from Cape Verde - one of two bands that recorded for Columbia, and who were likely coastal New Englanders. These are two "morna" songs, the local folksong style, which both have a slight similarity to fado. Features guitar and male vocal - slow and easy, almost rudimentary.

These were recorded around October of 1933 in New York.

Condition: EE+ (blue shellac - few superficial light marks, small 1/2" lam, nap - great!!)

I will be regularly selling a lot of amazing discs from around the world in the coming months. Please bookmark me and check back in.
