TALKING UNION - THE ALMANAC SINGERS.  Keynote Recordings - Album No. 106.  Dedicated to the memory of Joe Hill.
KEYNOTE RECORDINGS presents this album of union songs, dedicated to the memory of Joe Hill . . . worker, poet, song writer, and union organizer. While stacking wheat in Dakota, laying pipe in California, or mining copper in Utah, Joe Hill found time to write "Casey Jones", "Pie in the Sky". . . Framed on a murder charge, he was sentenced by the authorities to be shot to death, despite nation wide protest. Joe Hill's last words were, "Don't Mourn for Me. - Organize"
The Almanac Singers are young minstrels who work and sing their way around the country, in the tradition of Joe Hill. They compose and sing these songs at union meetings, rallies, and wherever the need for them arises. These songs reflect the spirit of the American people.
