"BLACK NIGHT" (Ritchie Blackmore / Ian Gillan / Roger Glover / Jon Lord / Ian Paice)

Black night is not right,
I don't feel so bright,
I don't care to sit tight.
Maybe I'll find on the way down the line,
That I'm free, free to be me.
Black night is a long way from home.

I don't need a dark tree,
I don't want a rough sea,
  I can't feel, I can't see.
Maybe I'll find on the way down the line,
That I'm free, free to be me.
Black night is a long way from home.

Black night, black night,
I don't need black night,
I can't see dark night.
Maybe I'll find on the way down the line,
That I'm free, free to be me.
Black night is a long way from home.
DEEP PURPLE: "24 Carat Purple" LP, FIRST UK PRESSING, ISSUED 27th JUNE, 1975.

  PURPLE RECORDS LABEL: TPSM 2002

  MAITRIX:  TPSM 2002  A - 4 /  TPSM 2002  B - 5
"24 Carat Purple" reached No.14 in the UK charts and with a 17 week residency, there were many records required and made, as
usual, EMI pressed in carefully monitored and indexed batches to ensure perfect sound quality. The maitrix ending's began with
'A -1/ B-1', this record has risen three digits on Side 1 & four on Side 2, which is perfectly normal for any big selling album.
EMI's stamping codes firmly place this record as a first pressing, not just any old 41 year old first pressing, a rare unplayed
Mint record in a 1975 deluxe, fully laminated gold cover.

EMI STAMPING CODES: L 1  /  ?  5  (Very faintly stamped, my interpretation is 'LOD' but it could be something else.)
The 'mothers' for anticipated high selling albums were made before vinyl manufacturing began, they were necessarily used in
numerical order, as the mothers were identical, all that mattered was monitoring the soft metal discs and changing them before
wear began.  Why the digits differ often so much per side, this first pressing was sourced from the 1st & 5th mothers.  Anyone
familiar with EMI's Beatles first pressing records will regularly see 1st & 5th mothers.

ORIGINAL 1975 EMI 'Care Of Your Record' INNER SLEEVE, UNAGED AND UNSPLIT, WITH ONLY A RECORD IMPRESSION
AND A FEW MINOR RELATED LIGHT CREASES, IN MINT- CONDITION.
A date was not printed on the front bottom rim but the design was always subtely changing from the 1973 first made, this is the
  1975 type.

VERY FIRST ISSUE, DELUXE LAMINATED 'GOLD' COVER, FULLY LAMINATED ON THE FRONT, SPINE AND BACK.
With an unplayed record inside, all to note is a record impression and a few related tiny laminate edge lines, any standing in
storage traits over the last 41 years are too minimal to detail. The gold colour looks incredible through the protective laminate
Printed by 'Garrod & Lofthouse', next to their credit on the back is the encoded date it was made, '7505' = 'May,1975,' a few
weeks before the album was released.  A stunning looking cover and I am delighted proud to present a major Deep Purple LP,
with the most staggering tracks ever placed onto a single album, in a cover as superb as this.
THE UNUSED COVER IS IN NEAR MINT CONDITION.

THE IMMACULATE LABELS DO NOT HAVE ANY SPINDLE ALIGNMENT TRACES, THE RECORD DOES NOT HAVE ANY
MARKS OR SCRATCHES .  I COULD NOT FIND ANY ANY HANDLING TRACES, SO NEAR INVISIBLE /INVISIBLE.
THE RECORD ALSO LOOKS LIKE NEW AND WILL HAVE STUNNING SOUND QUALITY BUT I WILL NOT PLAY IT MYSELF.
THE RECORD IS IN UNPLAYED MINT CONDITION.

All Songs Written By Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Jon Lord & Ian Paice.
  Recorded Between 1969 & 1972
Engineered By Martin Birch.
Produced And Compiled By Deep Purple.
There are compilations...and then there are ultimate compilations, when record companies choose the tracks they usually produce a
worthy enough album, but when the artists choose the tracks you get an 'ultimate compilation!'  Deep Purple took control and they
created 53 minutes worth of simply staggering music, if Side 1 wasn't sensational enough, on Side 2, after "Speed King" impacts
with incredible power with that riff of riff's taken to the absolute limit. No time to get your breath back, straight into the near
10 minute electrifying live performance of "Smoke On The Water", leaving you feeling like have just heard an encore finishing an
an inspired concert, the album could have ended there and than and still had a massive effect.  Then the adrenaline fuelled live
"Child In Time" kicks in mean, hard and heavy, for over 12 minutes, my all time favourite Deep Purple studio recording was played
by the ultimate line-up.  No disrespect intended any of the musicians who have graced this great band, the original 1970 studio
version in the hands of the musicians who recorded "in Rock", the live version will blow the socks of anyone not necessarily a
Deep Purple collector. In fact, I would go even further than that, if you only have the one Deep Purple album in your collection,
make it "24 Carat Purple." I usually get into background histories to albums but the tracks on the the album speak for themselves
so I do not feel the need to start digging out facts and figures, the pressing details and credits typed above, are all the facts
required.  I'm itching to play the record but an unplayed first pressing is very rare, the sound quality will be sheer perfection
and I know how loudly mastered this was.  The back cover pictures every Deep Purple album from 1968 to 1975 and 'sandwiched'
between the 1974 "Stormbringer" and the 1975 "Come Taste The Band", "24 Carat Purple" has exactly 'what is says on the tin',
maybe a gold plated tin because this is no 'Greatest Hits' LP.  A  definitive Deep Purple album because it represents the band at
their most inspired, this side of another re-build of the musicians.  The band thoughtfully included the first British outing of
the live "Black Night", it was only previously available as the B-side of a Japanese single.  Endless compilations followed but
this was unique for the complete input from the 'Mark 2' line-up, who were picking their own favourite studio & live performances
at this mid position of the 1970's decade.  "Come Taste The Band" found Ian Gillan and Roger Glover had left and before too long,
Ritchie departed to form Rainbow, "24 Carat Purple" is the finest gathering of the music Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord & Paice
ever recorded in the studio, or performed live on stage.  Even without playing and describing the album in full, I can conclude
this is a record listen to and experience, not write about.  I have said more than enough, my descriptions are not formulised or
simply filling in pre-prepared templates, I react to the records I am offering for sale, the hardest thing is resisting being the
first to hear this after 41 years of perfect storage in an amazing condition record collection.

  R & M RECORDS.

My lifetime's love of music and records began at a very young age, the arrival of the Beatles and the 1960's decade
in general had a very profound effect. It was only natural to bring all my first hand experience of collecting vinyl
into becoming a professional record seller.  Nearly thirty years ago we entered into the wonderful atmosphere
of record fairs with the highest possible standards set. When the Internet became the world's new market place for
vinyl, in 2001 it was time to join ebay. Those standards were rigidly adhered to as they will always continue to be,
the basics of honesty and integrity were very much part of the era the music I love originated in, so here is our friendly
and very efficient service we are proud to provide;

EVERY RECORD IS FULLY PLAYED AND COMES WITH A 'NO ARGUMENT' MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
I USE GOOD OLD COMMON SENSE AS WELL AS A GLOBALLY ACCEPTED GRADING TERMINOLOGY
FROM THE U.K. "RECORD COLLECTOR PRICE GUIDE" BOOK.
THERE IT CLEARLY STATES "Sound Quality" AFFECTS EVERY GRADING LEVEL AND THAT IS THE ONE
AND ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO ACCURATELY GRADE RECORDS. i.e. COMBINING A STRICT VISUAL
INSPECTION WITH VERY CLOSELY LISTENING TO EVERY SECOND, UNLESS PERHAPS IN THE CASE
OF GENUINELY UNPLAYED VINYL.  EVEN THEN WE STILL TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR A RECORD
WHEN A CUSTOMER RECEIVES EITHER A SEALED OR AN UNPLAYED RECORD.

We take 100% responsibility after an item has been posted and offer our fullest support in the event of any problems.
"There Are No Problems, Only Solutions" (John Lennon)
MY DESCRIPTIONS WILL ALWAYS BE 100% HONEST AND TOTALLY ACCURATE ON ALL GRADINGS
FROM 'V.G.' ( VERY GOOD), TO THE ULTIMATE 'MINT' CONDITION.

ONLY PROFESSIONALLY PACKED BOXES WITH SUBSTANTIAL PROTECTIVE PACKAGING THAT DOES
WEIGH A LITTLE EXTRA.

UNDER PAYPAL & EBAY'S GUIDELINES, ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA A FULLY INSURED TRACKABLE
SERVICE.

We have kept all our charges at the same level for years now, but due to the Post Office's new price increases, regretfully we
will have to increase the cost of LP's, however, singles will remain unchanged.  Ebay were aware of that happening and have
increased their minimum postal cost for LP's to £7.00, that figure has been enforced by the UK Post Office and it will become
our UK First Class, Recorded Delivery cost for albums up to the value of £46.  A temporary reduction this week means we can
now post LP's for £5, but who knows how long before the Post Office return to £7?

For LP's valued above £46, the cost will be £9, we are unhappy about either increase but our high standard of packaging has meant
in 13 years of ebay trading, there has not been one record damaged, we are determined to maintain that in the present and future.

IN THE UK RECORDS UP TO THE VALUE OF £46 WILL BE SENT RECORDED DELIVERY, OVER £46 WILL BE
SENT SPECIAL DELIVERY.
FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD ALL RECORDS WILL BE SENT VIA 'INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR.'
